Sunset Cruises

Three fantasic cruises fit your personal style -- from luxury cruise to party boat, the choice is yours.

Don Bosco: Take a sunset cruise aboard the famous "Don Bosco", a 65-foot motorsailer. This beautiful luxury sailboat was built by France as a gift to Spain. You can now enjoy the comforts of today combined with the quality and history of yesteryear on this superb sailboat.

The "Don Bosco" will pick you up at Ocotal Beach for a Sunset cruise with wine and appetizers, or for a day trip with a chef to cook for your group on a secluded beach. Our past guests give the "Don Bosco" the most rave reviews.

Steve can arrange your Don Bosco trip for you or you can arrange it with Allan at the Villa, after you arrive.

$70 per person for the Don Bosco sunset cruise ($700 minimum)
$100 per person for the Beach Barbecue day trip ($1000 minimum)
$120 per person for the Sunset and Beach Barbecue combo ($1200 minimum)

Drums of Bora: John Kingsley's Drums of Bora is easily the most unique yacht tours. The 50 foot, all teak sailing yacht was built as a combination power boat and sail boat, which allows for many diverse outings for up to 15 people. With a canoe bottom hull and a wingtip keel powered by a 125-hp Leyman 6-cylinder diesel engine, the yacht is exceptionally fast. The most comfortable of the area's sailboats, it has a large padded cockpit and full windows allow perfect viewing from the inside -- especially nice for guests who want a break from the sun.

Captain Nate, who snorkeled for lobster earlier in his life, provides high-quality snorkeling gear and the best guided snorkeling. While you are in the water, Edwin will be making you fresh sandwiches from ham that especially smoked for yacht guests, along with chips and homemade black bean dip, fresh fruit, and open bar.

The sail is up in the afternoon for some exciting tacking back to the beach. If you are staying for the sunset, you can look forward to gourmet appetizers and a champagne toast as the sun settles into the ocean.

You can arrange your Drums of Bora cruise with Allan at the Villa, after you arrive.

$65 per person: Full day, 8:30 am to 1:30 pm, includes lunch
$55 per person: Sunset cruise, 3 pm to 6 pm, includes open bar and appetizers
$85 per person: Full day and sunset cruise combo, 10 am to 6 pm
All Drums of Bora cruises have a 4 person minimum. You may book a 2-person Sunset only cruise for $75 per person.

Tronco Negro: The biggest party boat in all of Guanacaste, the Tronco Negro is your basic "let's get on the water and drink" boat. Good tunes, a friendly staff, a well-stocked bar, and your pretty bartender Sue will make sure you don't expire of thirst.

The boat is a trimaran motor boat that can accomodate up to 40 people. The boat is very stable and the entire deck is easily traversed and nonskid. A tightly woven netted area between the pontoons allows you to lay out or walk across to catch a little cool water as captain Richard cuts through the waves on the way to Playa Huevos.

Once anchored at the beach, you can take a quick swim and snorkel, then enjoy a snack of chips and salsa or cookies. You will be back in time to enjoy the sunset and beer from your favorite beach bar.

Ask your houseboy or Francisco to arrange this trip for you.

$38 per person: Tronco Negro departs Coco beach at 1 pm and is back by 5 pm daily, includes unlimited beverages and snacks
